Some
students are eligible for a bus pass which will provide them with
discounted travel. A student does not have to have a pass to travel
on the school bus, only to claim a concession. There are two types
of passes available, these are;
School
Bus Pass
These
passes are available to children who's residential address is
located 4.8km away from their nearest state high school, or
for primary school students, 3.2km away from their nearest
state primary school.
Children
who are eligible can apply for a fully subsidize pass

of their choice.
If you

How
Do I Apply For A Bus Pass?
Once
eligibility has been determined a government form and a school bus
pass application from needs to be completed by the students parent
or guardian. These forms are available from Hermit Park Bus
Service. Once completed the forms need to be returned to Hermit
Park Bus Service for processing. A bus pass will be issued to the
student and this pass is valid for the current
school year only as displayed on the pass. Each year Hermit Park
Bus Service will mail out a new pass to every student holding a
valid pass for the previous year. The only students that will be
required to fill out a new set of forms will be students who are,
changing school, address, travel frequency, moving from grade seven
to grade eight, repeating a grade or entering grade one or
prep.

Once the
student receives their bus pass there are a few things we would ask
parents and guardians to remember. It is very important that Hermit
Park Bus Service keep all records up to date and to do this we need
to be notified if your circumstances change. (i.e. change of
address - even if in the same area, change of school or if you no
longer require bus travel)
These changes need to be made known to Queensland Transport so
another Government Form needs to be completed with the new
information and returned to Hermit Park Bus Service.
Where do
I get the Forms?
There
are two forms that you will need to fill out to get your child a
bus pass. The first is issued by Qld Transport, this form is one
per family. The second form is the HPBS Form, these forms are one
per child.
Forms
can be mailed out to you, collected from any Driver or filled out
at the office. In most cases, if we receive a form over the counter
we can process it and make up a pass on the spot.
Alternately,
you can download and print out the two forms by visiting the
Bus Pass
Page. Please
remember that the original, signed forms must be
mailed back to us at;

What if
my Child loses their Pass?
If your
child loses their pass they will need to get a replacement as soon
as possible. Children without a pass will be asked to pay full fare
by their Driver. Replacement passes cost $10.00 each, this can be
refunded if the new pass is found within three weeks.
To get a
new pass you need to contact the office or give the Bus Driver an
envelope with $10.00 inside and the Student's name and address
written on the outside. Alternately, you can email
us at the office.
